History: Wiki link

Personality:

Eddie Kaspbrak is famous throughout the film (and book) if IT for being the group's anxious hypochondriac. Since his father died of illness when he was young his mother Sonia has made a point of smothering her child and molding him into a kid that believes he has asthma and needing not only an inhaler but pills too. Eddie doesn't actually have asthma but he's been convinced enough by his mother that he can actually suffer the symptoms of it in stressful situations, resulting in needing to use his inhaler. Not only that but Eddie looks upon a lot of things in a way where he has to ask himself just how dangerous is it? When confronted in the film with the idea of wading through some sewers he's the first one to shake his head, hold his hands up and say no. He knows what that water is and he also knows the potential diseases in it and it's on him to educate his friends too. This part of Eddie is big enough to define a lot of his actions and also forms a part of his base fear that Pennywise preys upon later in the film.

"Oh shit. Oh god. Oh fuck! I don't like this."

That being said, Eddie is a great friend. He's supremely loyal to the Loser's club and Bill in particular. He's always happy to hang out with them, bike riding and even jumping from high places into some water (despite the four hundred odd misgivings that had to be going through his head). It goes to show that being easily influenced isn't just restricted to his mother; his friends also influence Eddie to occasionally step outside of his comfort zone. They manage to talk him into the sewers and they could probably talk him into other things to. After all, Eddie did eventually wind up down there taking on an evil monster clown and that was with a broken arm. Eddie even agrees to cutting open his palm and making a blood pact with his friends despite talking about the dangers of blood earlier in the film; they are his everything and Eddie knows it. They are so much so that Eddie even manages to talk back to his mother on one occasion when she tries to convince him that they are bad for him. Eddie knows the truth when he hears it, it's just sometimes he simply chooses not to believe it.

Eddie is not known for being rainbows and sunshine even on a good day. Whilst he will be out having fun with his friends he is not often the one seen laughing, singing or goofing off. Eddie is the one that normally looks exasperated and he usually is considering his friend Richie makes approximately twenty million mom jokes at him a day and that's before the other tends to make some shitty comment or a really bad imitation of someone. Eddie's life is suffering, you know? He knows how to have fun but at the same time thanks to his mother's over protectiveness and smothering, Eddie isn't the one acting his age. He's more like a kid trying to be a mini-adult, sensible and thoroughly unimpressed by Richie's childish antics.

"Richie Tozier: Hey Eddie, are these your birth control pills?
Eddie Kaspbrak: Yeah, I'm saving them for your sister!"

The thirteen year old is efficient and orderly, though not on the same levels as Stan is within their group. He's pedantic when it comes to his health and even goes so far as to picking up the pills he drops outside the scariest mansion in the world. His fanny pack is stocked with his vitamins, inhaler and even a pair of glasses just in case the worst happens. That being said Eddie is also quick with sassy comebacks when the need arises and at the end of the day when it comes to a fight if he's in it? Then he's dammed well in it. Rock fights and killer clowns? Scariest stuff ever but both things that are trying to (and succeeding) in hurting his friends so therefore he will be sticking with them and fighting back wherever he can.

Oddly enough, Eddie is probably braver than most adults though that may be partly in the childish believe of somehow being indestructible that all kids have. Despite the horrors that the group have actually seen and understanding that there is a killer monster that feeds off of children every 27 years, it's Eddie and the group that decide to end it. Bill wants to end the monster for his brother and Eddie can respect that enough that even though he is the one with the pessimistic nature, he never points out to his friend that his brother is dead. He will always correct himself to "missing" when referring to Georgie because Eddie understands just how hard Bill witll take it if he understands the truth. It is Eddie and his friends that choose to go into the sewers to kill the creature and save their friend Beverley too, regardless of all the misgivings and facts that show this creature is technically way beyond their scope of true understanding. Eddie also knows that adults cannot be counted on to help them when it comes to this; in Derry they don't seem to notice or care about what's going on. When a new kid goes missing it simply overwrites the last one, people will shake their heads and be sad but that's all it amounts to. Eddie, like the others in the Loser's club, understands it is on them to make this right and ultimately he opts to do so, showing a bravery that has been building up since the first time he crossed paths with Pennywise.

Additional: LEPER.

"He was, like, a walking infection"

Pennywise is known to take the form of whatever scares the kid being hunted the most. For Eddie, Pennywise took on the form of a leper, manifesting in Eddie's fear of disease and illness. Just the idea of being close to such a thing let alone touched by one is Eddie's worst nightmare in the grand scheme of things. Unlike others, it's not something that moves quick or has killer teeth of claws. It is slow, shambling and not pretty, completely symbolic of what a disease could look like when slowly destroying someone.

Inventory: Standard clothes (red shirt, blue jeans), one cast on his arm with LOSER written on it (and roughly written over to say LOVER) and one fanny pack containing an inhaler and some multivitamins. Also a one dollar bill that Eddie has been saving for an emergency.

Abilities: Eddie is a thirteen year old boy and has no supernatural powers despite being in a place haunted by an actual monster. That being said, Eddie has a few things he's perfectly good at; he's great at being the first one to point out how unhealthy something is and is extremely fast at letting his friends know along with the key phrase of "I'm just saying." He's good at running, biking and if it comes to things hiding (though Eddie has not been seen running foul of the bullies as much as Ben and the others have in the film). Eddie also has some good idea - or as much of one as a thirteen year old can have - of first aid. When Ben is injured it's Eddie they ask to help patch him up.

Flaws: Eddie is, in essence, a hypochondriac. Thanks to an overprotective mother who has become extremely paranoid regarding health since Eddie's father died of illness years ago, Eddie has picked up that particular aspect. Whenever the group does anything that could be unhygienic, Eddie can always be counted on to not only point it out but to also explain why even if the others don't want to hear it. It is something that affects Eddie in how he reacts to things; dump him in a vat of dirty, probably disease ridden water and he's going to flip his shit. Give him the choice of avoiding said water and Eddie will do everything he can to at least avoid it before being talked into it. His personality is also pessimistic by default and so it's almost guaranteed that he's the one asking "Are you crazy?" to dangerous plans.

Eddie has also been hanging out with Richie Tozier too long and is prone to making sassy comebacks to shit comments thrown his way, which could get him in trouble in future.

Action Log Sample:

[ooc: based on the tdm prompt scenario one, otherwise will be happy to write a new one!]

You have got to be fucking kidding me.

[ Never were truer words spoken if you asked Eddie as he keeps his eyes fixed on the ginormous thing that looms nearby. He's not even sure which part is worse right now; that there's some giant monster nearby that seems intent on grabbing him, or the part where it's completely naked. There's a mix of horror and mortification running straight through him and Eddie can't help but make sure not to look at where he shouldn't be. That would just be gross and horrifying, god! Like accidentally seeing a parent naked or something.

Still, the whole situation is beyond messed up right now and Eddie pauses in his thinking to make a mad dash for the nearest wall, pulling himself over it in a mad, undignified scramble before sitting behind it. Maybe if that thing couldn't see him it would forget he existed? There were some birds that did that, Eddie was sure of it and not for the first time he can already feel his throat starting to tighten as his asthma starts to threaten. Using his inhaler might attract attention, for all Eddie knows that creature could have super hearing with ears that big and he tries to stave off the oncoming attack by silently counting backwards from ten. He gets to four before giving up and grabbing his inhaler from his pack. Better safe than sorry.

Once he can breathe again Eddie can't help but peer over the wall at the giant, wondering just what the fuck he did to deserve this. They had only just finished with Pennywise the Dancing Clown and now he was in some strange place with some million foot tall thing trying to pick him up and probably crush him, eat him or who knew what? More importantly, where were the others? There's been no sign of Bill, Richie, Beverley, Mike, Ben or Stan and that part is enough to have a sense of dread sinking in quickly enough. If they were around he would know it, so they were either not there or that thing had eaten them. How typical would that be? What was the saying? From the frying pan to the fire? Apt enough.

Was this thing Pennywise though? Eddie knows there's a chance it could come back, but if so then it was pretty dammed quick even for that thing. Another quick look at the titan and Eddie can't help but suspect this is something different; Pennywise was pure malice and nothing but calculated. Whatever that thing was, it was slow and seemed pretty dumb. Had it been the clown something would have given by now or the form would have changed. Sure this thing was pretty terrifying, but not on the same level as (the leper) other things Eddie has seen that week and that's before he even takes into consideration the grime and other unmentionable things that are currently coating his clothes.

Seriously, whatever has happened it could have at least waited until he'd washed! Even with all this going on Eddie can't help but wonder if he's going to catch something from all of the bacteria that's swarming over him from the sewers right now. Helping beat a killer monster clown to death? Fine, that he can just about deal with. Grey water fallout? No, absolutely not and considering he got a face full of said water it's only a matter of time before he comes down with something. Probability is obviously not on his side.]

Okay Eddie, you can do this. Just run past it and head for the building, no big deal, you've done worse. [ It was fine telling himself that, it sounded like the kind of plan Bill would come up with, but for now Eddie is content to stay put in his hiding place in the small hopes that the giant will at least move on to something else so he doesn't have to take the chance of running within reach of those grasping hands.]
